Does anyone have a list of cars? Wasn't there a white 67 L88 among others...? And a very early 68?
When his Corvette Collection was sold off by Mecum 9-12yrs ago, I think, that is when the bulk of the Corvettes went. He had many "James Bond" cars as he called it with serial #'s 007. Think there were 5 or 6 of those. He had several , if not many #00001 cars, one of was a '65. He did have 1968 Corvette #00002, a Bronze roadster with hardtop I believe. I think it was also an L-79 car with either orange or tobacco interior. I went to the auction checkbook in hand along with my F-250 and mty car trailer thinking I'd get a good deal on one of his many C3 cars. Boy was I wrong, cars were going very high for example a '79 Red/red L-82 4spd car for $35K!!! A '75 roadster, Z07, 187 original miles for $50K!!! Needless to say, I went home empty trailer, but saved a ton of $$$$.
Before MidAmerica Corvette started their Corvette shows, McDorman's was the 3rd largest Corvette show in the country in the '80s to whenever they stopped. Went every year as long as the weather was decent. Used to get many, many Corvettes for their shows & auctions. He at one time had one hell of a collection himself, and he had more than just Corvettes. Impalas, Camaros, Chevelles, El Caminos, etc.
The silver lining to all this, if you want to see it, is that there MIGHT be some replacement parts from the salvaged ones for owners waiting for replacement transmissions or other items. Hopefully something good like this can be salvaged from all the destruction.
(And no, I am not discounting the loss of human lives or the destruction of families in the path of these storms, just looking for anything positive. The source of replacement parts isn't positive obviously, but there existence might be a positive thing for some owners.)

I also went. He held a concourse event that the winning Corvette owner got a NEW Corvette. Bought a couple of Corvettes at the auctions he had at the shows.
My 70 Bronze 454 convertible ALL optioned Corvette was bought new there. Have the origional dealer frame on the license plate
