i am restoring my 74's rear compartment which was completely gutted of everything. I purchased the plastic bin for the jack storage compartment and the cardboard/fiberboard center glove box, but don't see any bins avail for the battery compartment. Was that ever painted from the factory or left as just fiberglass such that when i open the door i'm looking at 'unfinished' compartment ?
Off hand, I can't recall whether the battery compartment was painted on my 74. If yours was painted, I would think you would be able to see vestiges of the original paint. No matter. Paint it if you like.
No paint apparent to me. Since this area was *completely * gutted I'm unclear what stock appearance should be (bin/no bin, painted or no)

There was no bin and it wasn't painted. The glass was a dark grayish black and you could see the white glass strands in it. Unfinished would be the word.
Hi,
Here's that area on my 71.
It appears to be VERY dark and consistent for just fiberglass. The transition from the rest of the under body seems quite precise and distinct.
Was the fiberglass in that area 'tinted in some way?
Or was 'some' blackout used?
Regards,
Alan

I agree: unfinished. As for a bin that would not work. There are battery hold-down clamps at the bottom. You can't cover those up.
