Default 1969 Vert Window trim

So on my 69 I have ordered all the trim available but the two pieces shown in the pictures I am told are not available? All the other pieces are new chrome. I took them to be re-chromed and was told there stainless and cant be chromed? HELP!!! What are my options other then polish and know it wont match new chrome?

So, you are referring to the 2 windshield side moldings and the thin molding across the top of the windshield? Those are stainless and should polish up nicely. The top header molding I believe has a flash chrome on it, the corner moldings are chrome plated. I would think having it polished by a professional would do the trick.

Hi Mft,
As Joe described the center windshield header trim is stainless steel that was originally flash chrome plated after it was polished.
Stainless trim can certainly be flash chrome plated although finding a shop to do it is very difficult.
Polished stainless has a yellowish hue to it while chrome plating has a more icy blue hue to it.
The difference becomes apparent when a piece of polished stainless is adjacent to a chrome plated piece.
All the stainless trim on 68-72 cars was flash chrome plated including the rally wheel trim rings.
Regards,
Alan

Here you can see the difference in color between the chrome plated corner casting, the long thin piece of windshield reveal trim that's flash chrome plated stainless, and the large piece of stainless trim that's been polished but not flash chrome plated.

Gotcha, thanks. So I guess I just get it polished the best and I can and live with it
