Default What do you do

When you strip a screw hole? Do you use epoxy or something else?

epoxy, bigger screw, a nut on the other end, a new part, depends on the situation

Usually drill it out and re-tap to a larger size.

If that's not an option then I drill though and use a nut on the back side.

If the nut on the back is a real pain to access in the future then I put JB weld on the nut to secure it to the back side or tack weld it in place.

Kind of depends on the situation.

If it's a deeper hole that is only threaded part way then I thread it the rest of the way to get a longer bolt to secure to the new threads.

If it's a hole that takes some torque then helicoil coil may be the only option.

You can JB weld fill the hole then re-drill and re-tap if it's a hole that takes little to no torque.

Its the gage bezel top screw that goes into the dash pad. I can't use a nut on the other side because there is no room. I tried a bigger screw but it didn't fit in the bezel. I think my only option is JB weld.

In metal? helicoil if I can do it cleanly. Up size sometimes. I dont rely on epoxy unless its a non structural part. IE pot metal trim.

Not metal, I think plastic. Non structural part.

Get some gorilla glue and foil tape .put a rag below hole in case glue drops .
Squirt some glue in hole and tight away put tape over it until next day then remove tape and I used a sheet metal screw with counter sunk screw head
Very common problem

Fill the original hole with JB Weld stick-type putty epoxy (10 minute hardening), then redrill for mating with self-tapping sheet metal screw. [Note: You might want to 'dry fit' the bezel in place and use the screw hole to locate the best position for the patch to be drilled.] You can just install the screw ONLY (you might put a very light wipe of lubricant on the screw threads so the screw won't stick to the epoxy), then let the epoxy fully cure overnight. Remove the screw and install bezel.

Others have pressed a small, plastic drywall screw retainer into the existing hole (maybe with an adhesive smeared on the outside of it) and allow to fully cure. Then install bezel using the proper screw.

I did that on my 80. I went to home depot and got some of the plastic fasteners that you put into the wall for hanging pictures. Glued it into the dash and put the screw in. I could take remove the screw out and not worry about stripping it.
