Default production date

Hi,
I recently ran my vin number in birthday calculator with a C3 registry and it says dec 19 1971, its a 69 car. 194379s738059. and another says dec 19, 69. the numbers after and before have the later date. the registry calculator uses the ncrs info. allegedly

Obviously, a 1969 Corvette would not have a 1971 build date.

...194379s738059...
#38059 was near the end of 69 production. The Corvette Black Book says the last November 69 car was #36798. The last December car was #38762. Your car falls between the two.

...and another says dec 19, 69...
I've read (somewhere) that the 1969 production year ended on Friday, December 19, 1969. What is your Time Build code? My money says your date will be before 12/19/69.

12/19/1969 was the date I received when I used the calculator on corvette centrals site. the 1971 date was supposedly from ncrs shipping report service from the c3 registry site.

Simple to check. What's the time\build code on the trim tag? That code will tell you the month and day your car passed the station on the assembly line where the tag was attached. The was not completely assembled at that time.

If you are referring to an NCRS Shipping Data Report, the date in the report will be the day GM considered the car to be complete and ready to be shipped to the new owner. That date will be after the actual time\build date.

As an example, time\build date for my 68 is I20 (Saturday, April 20th). My Shipping Data Report says it was completed on 4/22/68.

Hi b,
As Mike explains the Trim Tag offers the BEST information of the DATE the body passed that location on the production line. And…. it's that date that's used in determining the 'time window' for dated parts on the car. (Not the date the car was shipped.)
What the NCRS Shipping Report offers, that hasn't been available to this point, is the name of the Dealer that the car was first shipped to.
Regards,
Alan

Hi B,
I believe you can relax on the "birthday calculator". What it says doesn't amount to anything.
If you think you have an original trim tag, and the vin sequence number on the vin tag, engine, transmission, and frame, falls logically within the monthly last car produced figures, that's all that matters.
Regards,
Alan

Just pay attention to what is in front of you. The birthday calendar is not an official document. It's the internet.

It shows my car being built when they were not even making my model.

They are doing their best to assist corvette owners but rely on owner's input which we know is not always accurate.

Im a little confused by that serial number. The C3 registry shows the highest last 6 numbers in the serial# for 1969 ending in the 710xxx range no where near 738059.

Hi Alan:
I'm referring to the last 6 digits of the serial number,738059 in the OP's case, not the number of cars made.
Mel

Hi Mel,
Am I missing something?
The 7 indicates a car assembled in St.Louis.
Doesn't that sequence number indicate it was assembled during the final month of the 69 model year production?
November 69 36798 (Final #)
December 69 38762 (Final #)
Regards,
Alan

it just started to make me second guess. the TIM says 69 did come with 3970010 blocks, but I haven't seen any 69 with one, a I was questioned about it by some. I did the long block over 25 years ago, ive owned it for 32 years, and the pistons weren't 10.25 to 1 they were slightly domed. it has hy stamped on the block. V1202HY. THANKS FOR THE CLARIFICATION.
