Help picking correct upper rad hose
My car is a 1969 big block 390 hp with PS and AC. I can't get a concensus on the correct upper radiator hose - the C3 supply houses seem to have overlap in years and engines for this hose. Basically I see an upper hose that pretty much runs a bee line from rad to water neck, and another with a severe "U" shape, like it is dodging a belt. But there is no belt in the way, especially the PS belt which is down low, and the ALT is ran off the PS pulley alone and doesn't run around the WP. So which hose # for my car?

There was a question about the upper hose recently.
I 'believe' the exact configuration of the upper radiator outlet impacts which hose is required.
Regards,
Alan
Here's the application with the odd bend in it. Is this what you're referring to?

Depending on the horse power, options, and when the car was made, GM used a couple different upper hoses on 69 427's.Part number 3947867 was used on all 69's with tri-power, and was the first design used with 390 horse cars with power steering. This hose was also used on all 69 390's without power steering.
The second design upper hose for power steering equipped 69 390's, was part number 3967433. The "433" hose was also used on 70-72 454's with standard cooling.
Further complicating matters, was that GM later superseded both of the above part numbers, with upper hose # 331876.
Unfortunately, I have no idea when the change in hoses was made. The 69 Assembly Manual may give a date for the change, but my 69 AIM is at the shop. I have a 69 and 72 Parts Book, but both of them are at work too, though the parts books rarely give a date for a part change.
