Vin search
1969 car
one of the previous owners sends the sticker to the current owner.
Sticker shows base engine, but car has a fully badged very hard to tell otherwize correctly stamped 427-435....
last 2 owners had no idea, it was swapped and stamped 15 years ago.. car was purchased at a very high price, numbers match, highly original.
who is angry here? who's car gets massively devalued? the current owner is ethically compelled to disclose this.

You're buying a used car, buyer beware. Pretty simple.

Asking a LEO to "run a number as a favor" is not doing the LEO any favors. Many LEOs have lost their jobs over things like this.
Many departments now require a case number / reason for the search when it is done. No good reason is grounds for discipline.

1 chevy
9 corvette
4 v8
67 convertible
0 1970 ? From what I read this is common? a 69 with a 70 year? Is this correct?

1 = Make/Manufacturer - Chevrolet
94 = Model Series - Corvette
67 =Body Style - 2 door convertible
0 = Model Year - 1970
S = Assembly plant - St. Louis (may look like a 5)
4 = Check Digit
12992 = production number starting with 00001
Double check, this VIN is for a 1970 corvette, not a 1969.

1) So this is not common for the vin to show a 1970 when it really is a 1969?
2) This guy is just trying to pull a fast one and sell a 70 as a 69 (seems that way to me)?

It should be pretty easy to tell if it is an official tag or not.
Yes, mistakes on VIN tags did happen, but hey are pretty rare.

I want to make sure the motor matches the vin. I know it is on the block front on the right side.
Any other things to look for that could be major issues?
