If a mouse can get its head thru a hole it can squeeze thru. I spent 15 minutes using a hemostat to pull the mouse nest made of pink fiberglass insulation back thru the hole in the frame on the passenger side. Little Mickey had a nice warm little nest.

My dam cat loves my wife Mercedes Benz convertible top as a scratching post.
Maybe I can drop the cat off at your house.

They banned poison D-con pellets apparently which barely did the job of killing mice. Replaced it with small blocks to be used in reusable feeders that are not attractive to mice. Safety concerns I guess, but they took something that worked, albeit poorly, and replaced it with something worse. Old fashioned spine snapping mouse traps for me with peanut butter enticements. Maybe they did us a favor, half the d-con pellets ended up in the nests before they kill the mouse.

A year back we move into this big old place no one really lived here since the late 90s and no kidding between the attic 2000sf and basement 2000sf there was about about 5 electric repellers 50 old style rat traps 20 plastic jaws traps 20 glue traps just dust and bugs in them and the tom cat poison cubes everywhere, and a few other misc traps or poison stations and some dolt stapled screen over every floor vents and some rooms had 2 or 3 vents Like some horror movie trying to keep out little monsters,
Not one dead mouse or rat carcass
Heck most traps not even sprung

From my 70.
From my 73.
Also had 2 "nests" in my 71. One under the passenger seat and one behind the rear quarter trim. I put nest in quotes because one was a nest, but the other one was most certainly a bathroom. Be happy it was in the frame, the smell of mouse pi$$ never really comes out of the carpet

Those things are such a pain. I had to cut a window then re-weld back into place in my frame to get a vacuum hose in it to get my unwanted visitors remains out. It filled a 1 gallon bucket along with his mummified corpse. I then had to coat the inside of the frame with rust killer from Eastwood since moisture and pee stayed there for so long. It was nasty

I found over the years the most likely and very easy place for mice to get in is through the side vents behind the kick panels. If it's going to be parked I always make sure those vents are tightly closed. I also check the rubber grommets especially the radio antenna and battery cables.

When I bought my 80 , it was mint low mileage, and 1 owner car , so me and the wife are out cruising , and we smell something like rotten eggs , or something , I think I had the car for a week until I pulled the air filter snorkel off, and there he was , toasty warm and dead . Probably well done .

Marshal- I already have a pile of cats, but they are too lazy and well-fed to bother with mice. The Vette is parked in my heated garage where there is a lot of activity- thought it was safe from the mice. My RX-7 is parked in one of my storage buildings on the farm and I have used the Irish Spring and moth ***** to keep the vermin out. So far they have not caused a problem. Hope that will continue, since I just spent $1500 to replace the leather on the front seats..

That looks familiar.... Here are a few pics of the mouse nest from my '70. Note that the papery bits are what's left of the build sheet normally found between the speedo & tach housings behind the dash. Had to employ my then 5 y/o son to fish another nest out of the driver's side vent. Good news is I was able to piece together the most important bits denoting the ZR1 special performance engine package, M22 trans, 4.56:1 posi, heavy duty brakes, dealer/zone number, etc. I think the mice may have ate some of it too... Rat bastards.
