So my dad and I recently bought a '76 Vette to restore/play with. It's in decent shape, just needs some TLC after sitting, but the biggest issue is that the driver seat frame was welded in place back much too far for me to be able to drive it so we definitely need to figure out a new seat situation, any suggestions are definitely welcome! (I'm 5'3" at best and he's 6'0 so being able to move the seat is paramount) *edit: it is definitely welded, we had a mechanics shop take it out and the frame had busted so the previous owner(s) welded it to the tracks*

Welcome to the forum, Ashley. Stranger things have happened, but I'm wondering whether your seat is simply stuck on the tracks and not welded. Both seats are meant to slide forward and backward for adjustment using the release ***** on each seat. With age, the seat rails can get dirty and make them difficult to slide.
If the seat backs release and you can tilt them forward, just swap the driver's seat for the passengers seat for the time being. In the mean time be on the look out for a set of seats to re-upholster and replace yours with.
