Leaving Jackson, Mississippi last Sunday afternoon, Ole Red developed a slight miss and intermittent cough. I managed to limp on home with it. Wasn't sure what was causing it so I figured well she needs a good tune up anyway and I've got the parts sitting on my shelf. First I installed new plugs and plug wires-still had the miss and cough. I had a new spare coil, distributor, rotor and ignition module, so I installed everything. Still didn't fix the problem. Now I'm getting worried. I pull the valve covers and check the springs, none broken. Then I turn the motor over and everything seems to be moving as it should. I double checked firing order to make sure no wires were crossed. Everything looks good but still missing and coughing. Now I'm inside on the internet pricing crate motors. lol. Go back out and start it one last time. This time I rev it to around 4k a couple of times. It coughed once, then smoothed right out. Running like silk now. My best guess is some tiny debris stuck in a jet maybe.
I LOVE the Keystones on that car. Perfect choice!!
So many different styles out there. When I was a teenager in the early 70's, my neighbor had a Mach 1 Mustang with these keystone wheels. I remembered how good they looked on that car.
I experienced something similar and found it to be a clogged 3 dollar fuel filter.
Yep, I had run out of ideas as to what it could be. My next step was gonna be draining the gas tank and putting in fresh gas. A long shot I know, but I was getting desperate. It's the original 40 year old engine, so I guess I shouldn't complain. ha.

Old engines, go figure. It's part of the mystery and charm of being owned by one.
I agree with Tom those wheels look perfect on your car very nice!
Thanks. It was a tough decision between these and a set of Crager's. I like 'em both. I hadn't seen very many old Vettes with the Keystones so decided to go with them.
I am in Columbus, Ms. Is that car from this area? What color in the interior? I wonder if it was a friends car he bought new in 1977 from the chevy dealer here in town. I was a teenager then too.

I bought it in 2005 from a guy in Kosciusko. The original interior was white when I bought it, but it was pretty ragged. When I replaced the interior a few months back, I changed everything to red, except the seats. I'll ask around and see if I can find out where the car was originally sold when new.
