Door latch Removal . . . . best way?
73 with electric windows.
I'm pretty sure that I'm going to have to remove the entire door latch assembly, from the drivers side door. After almost 44 years, it's not working too well anymore, passenger side works fine. Does the window regulator have to come out?
Thanks for any help . . .

Before you remove it, get a can of spray solvent with one of those little extension tubes and shoot some into the latch area--INSIDE of it...not ON it. With the window in the UP position, there shouldn't be anything that you can harm inside the door. Excess will evaporate or drain out the drain holes at the bottom.
Exercise that latch assembly with inside and outside release handles to see if that frees it up. If one handle is much freer than the other, your problem is likely with the link connecting that handle to the latch.
If you get it freed up with the solvent, follow that with a liberal dousing of white lithium lube in a spray can (with tube). There is not much lube in each spray, so shoot it up!
