For my Dad's birthday this year, I am looking at getting him a cover for his 1972 Corvette. I've looked around at all the major vendors through the forum and am a little lost with it, so I figured I would ask those with experience. For at or under $100, what is the best car cover? Primary use will be indoor FWIW. Thanks for the advice!
Hi J,
Car cover prices generally reflect the material they're made from and how well they fit a particular car.
At $100 you're pretty near the lower range of good car covers. Many cost $200-$300+.
Even a simple custom fit indoor dust cover is more than $100 I'm afraid.
Regards,
Alan
I'm inclined to agree with Alan. The price of a quality car cover has gone up quite a bit in just the past 10 years. My favorite quality cover has been the Wolf NOAH and the the Wolf EVOLUTION. They are both considered indoor/outdoor type covers. I use them primarily indoors, but they are soft and tough enough to provide a good measure of bump protection as well in the garage.
Corvette America has a pretty good selection of covers some of which are just under $100. I would however recommend the Premium Flannel for indoor use only, or the Soft Shield if it may see outdoor use. Keep in mind that the sun will do a number on almost any outdoor cover. And wind will cause any dust/dirt that gets under the cover (which it will outside) to act as an abrasive, particularly where the cover goes over edges.
Good luck and I think a car cover makes a great gift for your Dads birthday.
