Default Starter wiring.

I have been doing this to long to be asking this question. What wire goes where. Car is a 72. Starter is a GM mini that came on my 502. I just want to make sure so I don't burn something up.

Didn't catch any 'question' in your post. What's the question?

I threw it out there. Which wire goes where? Sorry I didn't use a question mark.

The large wire from the battery goes to the unused large diameter post. The small 12ga'ish wire from the ignition goes on the small post. Large = large, small = small

The solenoid is a relay. Power in, power out, triggered by ignition.

Still have points?

If so you have 2 small wires. On my 68 the points wire is yellow

Large open post- battery cable and 1 small wire with large ring terminal
Small post "R"- is the points wire post. Wire is yellow on my 68. Not used with electronic ignition.
Other small post is the starting post. Think it's purple on mine.

Looking at your pic it does not look like that starter has 2 small posts.

I don't think he has points.
