scratched glass repair
I have a lot of little scratches on the mirrored T-Tops of my 78 Pace Car. Buying new tops is not a reasonable solution but having scratches all over your glass on a completely restored car isn't the answer either. I've found some solutions on the internet but my major concern is I don't want to attempt to buff them and end up damaging the "mirrored" appearance. Any suggestions on how to "buff out" scratches on mirrored glass would be beneficial. In addition I could use some help in using the search function on this forum. All I'm able to search for is a single word. For example when I typed mirrored glass T-Tops the search engine performed a search on each word separately so I got threads with mirrored, glass, or T-tops within them but not as a phrase.

You can try using the advanced search, but theres no provision there for phrases either

Best way to search in general is to use the Google advanced search function and then direct it to search this forum only under 'site or domain'. It has many options for words / phrases to search and even what to exclude.

a solution to get out most scratches
For you guys who have scratches that don't want to come out. I work for an automotive glass company and have to come up with some creative stuff when it comes to scratches and other defects. This doesn't always work but in most cases does. Try Toilet Bowl cleaner and 6000 grit sand paper. put the cleaner on the scratch and then take the paper with a circular motion buff it out. If that doesn't work use toilet bowl Cleaner with a polishing compound and a drill with a buffer Pad and buff it put. that should work. redneck as they come but it works.

At the cost of replacing them I would have thought that someone would have solved this issue by now. Just waiting and hoping that someone will respond.
