Vibguy 1971 frame off restomod

I think it could work but would love to see it if someone else tried it.

Been tracking down leaks. I thought it would be novel for me to have a drip free car. Ha. Good luck. First ATF. Seems there was a stripped hole on the pan where the shift lever bracket attaches. I don't see how a standard bolt length would work there, but ended up putting in a helicoil and a longer bolt. Next power steering leak. It seems it is really important to torque the mounting studs in the pump. I must have overlooked that. That power steering pump can be a knuckle buster. Last, brake fluid leak. I bought a brake system package from a reputable parts dealer, but unfortunately 2 years ago I didn't notice the poor quality of the master cylinder where it is machined to make a good seal with the top. There are giant gouges that allow fluid to leak past the lid seal. It is a small leak, a few drops after a test drive, but brake fluid leaks should not be tolerated. I had the bright idea to "smooth" it with JB weld. This proved to be a stupid idea. After I sanded it down it made a real nice surface, but then I wondered about the long term effects of brake fluid on JB weld. I ran an experiment with some cured JB weld in brake fluid. Yep, it dissolved. So this master cylinder has to come out. Too late for a return but a lesson learned on checking parts when you receive them. Front and rear seals look good. I had a valve cover leak, but got some good advice from this forum and purchased the Felpro gasket and it seems to work great.
Other than leaks, I found that I needed to replace the harmonic balancer. It was wobbling a little and I got to thinking about how I am replacing all the rubber in this project, so that means the rubber that is in the balancer. I wish I would have thought of that when the engine

was out, but it ended up being a relatively painless swap. I just really didn't want to mess up that front seal.
I just gotta wrap up the damn body work. All that is left is the hood, hard top, deck lid and diaper. I have a question on the fitment of this stupid diaper. I attached a picture. Before I complete the fiberglass work, how neat and tight do these things fit? Does it hide under the bumper so not to sweat it, or will it look hideous if I don't get these edges to line up?

The seam between the bumper and license plate will be seen- I had a replacement filler piece- and it was a ton of work to fit...

Also, thanks for the photo of the bumper area. It helps and now I know I have to continue on the body work (ugh).

When you were talking two tone I was thinking”barf”, but with the paint lines at the bumpers and the paint working with the body lines, that is beautifully done.

Perfect! Thanks. Now that I see it I am back to really liking the silver over black (but in this example I guess it is dark purple). I also like this cars wheels, rear tail lights and exhaust note. And you gotta love that cat!

The color has been decided. It is going to be a dark blue. Specifically 2015 Corvette Nigh Racing Blue Metallic. I am not sure if anyone has seen it on a C3, I looked a little on line and didn't see anything, but it has probably been done. It sure looks good on the C7.
I always thought the car was going to be its native Ontario Orange, but since my sis is going to be driving this car the most, the color was her choice. I couldn't sell the silver over black and I tried. It will be much easier with one color anyway. I am going to trailer it to get a few paint quotes and get the exhaust installed by some pros tomorrow. I went with the Corvette Central N11. I am going to kind of miss the raw sound of the glass pacs a little I guess, but the neighbors wont
