dumb question- battery size

dumb question- battery size
so my 68 did not come with a battery. getting to the point I need to think about one.
In front of the car, there was a group 24 battery sitting on the floor. I think this might be the stock size for a 68?
that said, seems like 34 is a much more common size. Does a 34 fit in a vette battery box without any problems?

Hi TJ,
The original batteries were 10"x6-3/4"x 8".
Perhaps that'll give you an idea of what the dimensions need to be/can be for your new battery.
You might also want to check to see if the battery cables are set up for top or side mount.

car is still the stock top post setup.
i found these sizes:
group 24- 10.2x6.5x8.4
group 34- 10x6.8x7.8
looks like they are both so close to the stock spec size wise I'm sure a 34 would work

I used a group 24 Inter State.
Fits fine even with a battery disconnect hooked up to positive side.
Lid closes using this battery. Top post too.
