I'm on the C4 part of the forum but I ran across this and thought I'd share so you all over here can be sick along with me. Sorry if it's been posted before this.
Look Closely, There Used To Be A 1977 Corvette Under All That...
Yes, seen it, lately a lot of cars have been posted for the sole reason to trash, so much negativity, sad, i like my corvette hobby time to be positive,
But i do get it, I couldnt sell my c4 fast enough, i felt about it the way you feel about this car....so yeah,

To me, the general C3 body design is akin to Jennifer Lopez's backside. As viewed by the great majority it is curvacious, exaggerated and extremely sexy even if you suspect that parts of it are unnatural and unnecessary. While only a few consider it sublime a great many find it highly desirable because if its unusual mix of characteristics that create an overall appearance made of elements that would easily be called "grotesque" if not combined with the rest. This sort of design tends to be universal and timeless in that it evokes similar emotions no matter the location or age of the viewer.
Such a design lends itself to manipulation by people who intend to make "improvements" that either further exaggerate existing design elements or add contemporary elements in an attempt to "update" the design. While potentially "hot" and highly desired by a select group, these modifications are best known for turning a classic design into an abomination once the often grotesque fad fades.
Dont get the wrong idea i dont much like this one either,
However, i have a challenge for anyone who hates this thread car, go look at google images and post a modded c3 you do like,,,positive is better than negativity.
Never said I don't like custom Corvettes but if the finished product doesn't have any hint it was ever a Corvette except for the fact it's a two seater and may have Corvette interior, No thank you. I like Corvettes, custom, stock you name it. I don't like pimp-mobiles or some other monstrosities.

You dont like pimp cars you must be like me and dislike tall diameter wheels with rubber band tires on classic c3s,
Nice customs you posted, new school,
You know the irony here, if you posted any of those c2s over in the c2 section they would get the same negative type remarks this threads car got, with a lot of the posts saying you ruined a mid year....
Now, how about posting your c3....i want to see who you like enough to own.
Just some small custom work like I wanted the side grills black. Not in these pictures but I painted the rear grills black and I'm going to blackout the front grills where the marker lights are.
All of the money I've spent since I bought it in 1999 has been on the drive-train and suspension. A new soft-top and carpet along with some minor interior trim that was missing. It had sidepipes and blacked out sidepipe covers but the pipes were shot and I decided to go back with undercar exhaust.
This is a few months after I got it:
And now:
One day when I do all the body work it needs (10 foot paint job ) I want to go with the Indy pace car spoiler on the front but keep the chrome bumper. Then I want to modify my stock hood to resemble the stinger hoods found on C2 big block cars and remove the luggage rack.

Thanks for the share, we are sempatico on many things, convertible, a must, they did make the indy front spoiler for the bumper cars, looks good and racy on them, saw one on ebay the other day, dont know if ecklers still sells them new for the early cars,
The scoop from a 67 will sit over the stinger already on a sb 68-72 hood, looks great,
I fully agree loose the rear rack,
The color is pretty nice in the pictures whats it called.
I don't really think it is ironic to tell somebody not to be negative and then turn around and trash his car. To me that is hypocrisy, not irony.
Actually you summed up why i do see it as ironic,
This is a thread made to bash a car, all hahah fun right?
while i did say (in general ) i do not like c4s and couldn't sell the one i had fast enough that doesnt make me a hypocrite,
you're mistaken i never bashed the ops personal car, it might be a super nice, a rather sweet c4 i dont know never seen his car.
I dont pigeon hole myself,
I can dislike c4s in general yet reconize the one here or there as being nice, in the same vein i can love c3s yet dislike this or that specific one.
Ironic, huh?
That's War Bonnet Yellow. I bought the car for the original owner and he had a couple of "mishaps" with it and it's been resprayed twice. The color on there now is supposed to be WBY but it's a tad too yellow. I'll go back to what it's suppose to be whenever that day comes.
