In California I have noticed a decline in post 1974 Vettes due to stringent smog laws, can't dump a lot of money into a car that will not pass smog or you have to spend money every two years to get compliant. So they sit in garages or outside and decay. Maybe its anecdotal on my part.

Just curious, what do you find intimidating about working on old technology of the C3's, like your '72? I do all my own repairs and the Mercedes are far more intimidating for me.
Nice to see someone half my age buying a chrome bumper C3! Maybe there's hope after all.
How about a picture of your '72.
To be honest I am not sure, maybe it’s because of the cars age and the fact I never owned a car with a carburetor? I am still trying to figure it out myself.
I hope I can find someone in in Mass who would be willing to teach me a few things about the C3.
Hope to get some better pic’s when the weather improves.
Great looking '72 Coupe, I can see why it got attention. At least you have a great forum here for help, experience, and knowledge. For those of us that started working on cars in the '60's, we had friends with experience and always willing to help out.

Thanks! I was luckyto get a great deal on this car from a fantastic forum member on this board. Ihad to go to Texas to get her but it was worth it.
So I don’t know if I am still considering in the younger crowd category, but I am 34 and was in the market for my first old muscle car. The C3 was on my top 5 list and after months of research I ended up choosing a 72 C3...I had my C3 parked out front of my house for 25 minutes during delivery and was asked several times if it was for sale. If anything I feel the C3 market in the next few years is only going to grow.
As you were not of driving age when the C3 was new you count as being in the younger crowd the OP thought the C3 might not appeal to.
I've also had a couple of people ask if my c3 was for sale and they were both in their 20's.
There were a lot of C3's lost in Super Storm Sandy in my area - according to the local shop about 60 cars. (NJ, NY) He has purchased a few. I saw the SANDY cars out east of me and could not believe some of the cars that were under water? Exotics and trucks all makes ... amazing.
I drive my 71 every day I can. I do see a lot of C3's, most people now feel the chrome bumper cars are the next great investment.
Last week I saw a lot of 74 and up C3's at the gathering.
Last year I was going home from a Tuesday night cruise and an Accord past me on the left. A young boy was breaking his neck to see my Orange Flame "75. When I pulled up beside the Honda at the light the young man had half his body hanging out of his car. " Boy that is a cool car" he shouted. My mom said it's an old Corvette what year is it. I smiled and thanked him for his praise and told him it was a 75 and he should go to Appleby's on their next cruise night to see the other really cool cars there. The light turned green the mom disappeared and I continued home with a perpetual grin on my face. I wouldn't bet against this young man as a future C3 owner. Youthful enthusiasm is a real boost and makes the hours of work I do on my Vette all worth while.

With the exception of inclement weather my 69 is a everyday car. While I rarely see any c3's I do get a ton of looks and teenagers taking pictures from their cars. I'm 37 and fell in love with these cars long ago and every time I drive around a neighborhood anyone that's out side looks and many kids will shout to me or try to ask about it so put me in the there will always be c3 drivers/collectors... Most the vettes I see are newer generations, even parked next to one taking my wife to lunch...
My C3 is definitely not a DD. One of the reasons for me and I suspect others to not drive them more is insurance. I have collectors insurance on the C3 that cost about 200 a year. This insurance will not allow me to drive it to work and limits me to 3000 miles a year. I own 2 other cars and a pickup that all have full coverage. Getting daily full coverage on the C3 so that I can drive it full time is just not feasible. It is a matter of priorities.

Damn those C7's are big compared to our C3's. WOW
I love the C7 but it still doesn't compare to the sexy that is the C3.

Oddly enough when I got mine I got a quote for classic and full insurance. Full insurance was less for the vette than it was for the 2004 ford mondeo that i had at the time, I still cannot think of why though. With the classic insurance that i do have there is no mileage limit per year, just that I have to use another car for work. Although i can use the vette occasionally.

Smart boy.....I also get 2,500 miles a year by my insurance company.....Funny thing is they never check...In 15 years though I have put 22,000 miles.....The roads in NY do not dictate everyday use of a C-3, the car would be destroyed in a year...

M7 79, just rolled 10K on the odometer. Lots of room to do lots of driving, and I drive it often. Everywhere I go I gets compliments, waves, questions.....and being a survivor, unrestored but pristine, people in our age bracket really get a kick. Everything on this car still works. It is amazing, and I believe there will be plenty of interest, and desire to own these for many years to come. I like hearing that they are a bit rare to see. I bet many other car owners can't say that.
