I have to admit, I did laugh out loud when he said
"It couldn't pull out a dangling baby tooth."

Default Here she is

Might as well share a pic.
Abandoned in the desert for 22 years, as found, resto in progress.
I have a lot of love for this car, and so glad I saved it.

Here we see the ravages of decades in the desert.
Yet she fired up instantly.
Perhaps she is not the Worst, perhaps she is the BEST in terms of being able to withstand decades of abuse, being left outside for 22 years is normally a death sentence for a C3.
But the California desert preserved her, somehow..

My first was a 75.

Steel blue with silver interior. It was fun to tool around in and it looked good. I loved the car.

Unfortunately fake dual exhaust, a catalytic converter, and 165 hp meant that shopping carts in the wind could out run me.

I have no cat, true duals and it feels more like 200.
But its rusty and will soon be replaced with all stainless.

have you heard the jokes about cease fire 1982s.lol. If you don't have a chrome bumper l88 big block drop top ,well then maybe we don't rate as high .But we drive are cars and enjoy them just as much [maybe more]I cant afford the high dollar most wanted corvettes.I want to drive what is affordable and fun .Having a car that is worth huge dollars , maybe you will be afraid to drive it.You can have any hp that was put in a chevy in any corvette ,no matter the year.Remember what ever year or condition corvette you have ,there are a lot of people that don't have what you have and would love to have it.ENJOY what you have .

The only "bad" year for Corvettes was 1983, because they didn't make any for public sale and use!! All other year model Corvettes are all awesome.

I am 51 and my Dad, who passed away last year was my hero.
As a boy, I told him once, "Dad, I love the Stingray. Why don't we have one?"
My Dad was an airline pilot and he had some colleagues who owned them and he immediately said in his rural North Carolinian foothills twang..

"Son, you don't want that car. Rides like a Log Wagon."

...and that ended it.
Years later I kinda wish I hadn't listened to my old man all these years.
He never steered me wrong with his sage advice.
But now, I am not a little boy, and I can think for myself.
I now can have what I always loved.

Why did I not get a big block ?

Because sometimes I just want to pass the gas station, instead of stopping.

You might consider a dip in a pool of Rhino lining..to get some thicker skin.
It sounds like you're trying to convince yourself how great the '75 is.
I can't relate to others opinions on cars..I know what I like, and that is ALL that matters.
Find a way to enjoy your '75 in spite of your fear of others opinions.

The old "you don't want that" person. Pet peeve of mine. Any time anyone says that to me I tell them "I'll decide what I want, not you.".

I can't explain it, but I don't want any other Vette other than the one I got.
Maybe in 20 years when I am 71 I will pick up a used Mid Engine , but til then I am just fine

Your father was right when he said they ride like a log wagon. So what! I didn't buy mine for the cushy ride. I purchased it because I like it.

I've gotten the comments about what car's are better, but I own mine. The one's with the bs comments usually do not have a corvette, let alone a Split Window Fuelie.

Enjoy it, drive it and be happy. You own a true Classic!

The 75 was the last of the truly vintage Vettes in as far as the sum of its parts go.......the last of the 1st series interior.
The L-82 was horribly tuned out but easily remedied......
I would not mind having a 75' vert 4 speed with all of the free flow engine mods that most do to one........
There is a hell of a stigma attached to any car built after the Nixon administration........

When I was looking for a weekend hot rod the 75 Vette was not even on my list. A 69 Hemi Charger was and is still my boyhood dream car. That being said, when my wife and I found an Orange Flame 75 for sale locally we went for a ride just to look. When we pulled around the house to the garage in the rear we were staring at a breathtakingly beautiful vintage auto. We both sat in the pilot's seat and listened to the engine purr and fell in love.
My 75 motor and body have slight mods but in my opinion these mods add to the look and performance of the car. Our Vert is a decent 5 footer that still turns heads at the local cruises. She is fast enough to get me in trouble with the local LEO's and now with the addition of headers and chambered mufflers, she is loud enough to get me in trouble with the neighbors. My vert is a hoot to drive and every time out I enjoy it more.

Not trying to be critical but I think it would be called a half/ vert since it is actually a T-top . Nice car, probably see you over at Bair's Corvette open house cruise in Linesville in May .
