Default 1974 headlight harness

Working on a 74 convertible headlights. Comming off the low beam harness is a two wire lead with what looks like a circuit breaker. One end of it looks broken off with a small spring inside. Is this the headlight warning switch that tells if high or low beams are on and is it needed on the harness to make the electrical system perform correctly. Could not find replacements. Any help appreciated.

Hi 03,
Perhaps you're seeing the switch that indicates when the headlight doors are fully open when the lights are on?
It controls the little headlight warning on the center gauge cluster.
There should be 1 for each headlight door.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan that is exactly it. Would you happen to know where I can purchase new oem parts or reproductions. I am in Glen Burnie, Md.

They're available from all of the vendors. Be careful with them as they are VERY fragile! The plastic "bolt" is cast to only one half of the switch body which means that half of that "bolt" is not supported.
