76 Stingray Starter Issue

I installed the starter with a 1/16" shim and I've achieved positive engagement, but still not ideal.
Suggestions?

You put the full link in. All you need is the video identifier - FhYrZBm8aDE - in the link.
Just watched the video. Something is wrong with the mount on your starter. I can see it move. It looks like the inner bolt is either not tight or is flexing. From the grinding that happens as it engages, I would say it is far too tight. You need shims on the inner bolt location between starter and block to extend it out and down.
Yes, changing the starter is easier, with three bolts (two main ones, front support bolt) and a few wires. But you can often remove the flex plate without removing the transmission. Disconnect the torque converter from the flex place (often 3 bolts) and push it back. Then remove the 6 crank bolts. Remove and replace the flex plate.
If you can't get in to the crank bolts, replace a couple of transmission bolts with 6 to 8 inch long ones, disconnect the driveshaft, remove the transmission mount bolts, and slide the transmission back a couple of inches.
BE SURE CAR IS BLOCKED, ON JACK STANDS, etc. to PREVENT ROLLING OR MOVING once driveshaft is disconnected.
