Default "Glassworks" chrome bumpers conversion

Hey C3'ers.
I posted this in my intro and thought I would put it up here to see if anyone on this forum has installed the "Glassworks" chrome bumpers.

Thanks fellow Vette men!

I have a small shop at my house and I do body and paint work. I'll start posting up picks in a few weeks from now....before and after type stuff or whatever is requested along the journey. Going to do a repaint (it's that light blue, all faded an checked but solid and dent/crack free) and looks like I'm going to try that front & back chrome bumper deal from the gentleman down in Fla..

My beast is a well optioned '77 L82,4-sp,blk.interior,a/c car. 64k miles.
When I get close to paint time I'd like to run a "color preference" thread to get folks opinions if that will be ok to do. (?)

I've just redone all the brakes and have received the aluminized tru-dual pipes from CC. Carb is out on the bench. Going to need some wiring straightened out, cars been sitting quite awhile.....
That's it for now......

I know Don great cat,
I was fortunate to have seen this
conversion in pictures as he was perfecting it,
What i like so much about dons take on this is his doesnt reinvent the classic rear and duck tail that gm got right,
His looks like how chevy might have done it,
I know from talking with don he was really concerned with the look and fit, and while we know cars and parts fit vary his is super nice,
I believe you will be very pleased with the outcome.

Thank you Bats!
Yes, Don's treatment of the rear look is what drew me to his product. Tell me, are the '74 and up years body wider than the earlier C3's? Or are the fenders themselves just different? Don's conversion is nice but there's jus something that looks sorta strang going on ,to me. Maybe it's just his bumpers being black instead of chrome....dunno.
I heard that great advances have been made with vinyl wrap lately and that they now have some chrome wrap that is very real like...do you know about this/seen it?
Thanks again Bats.

I just talked to him about those this past week. I hope to get one in about 3 weeks depending when I can drive up to pick it up.

Biggest difference I see is the bumpers don't wrap around as far. In the back it looks like the side marker lights are in the way. Up front, not sure.
Looks pretty good though.

Now that's really nice. I guess that's what Priya is trying to do to her 79.
That's some conversion!
Nice job

Yep...plus it's "bolt on".
I just spoke with Don couple hrs. ago asking if he could make the rear lower exhaust area cut out squared for exhaust tips like on the pre '74....he said he's waiting to hear back from a customer that is doing that very same mod on a kit Don sold him.

edit; jus found a thread on this site talking about it(the cutouts). https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ions-help.html

I am only speaking from me, my mind,

Don i believe did the special rear bumpers for people who wanted to bolt this mod on and go, but i believe some builders will relocate the rear side running lights to the lower 68-73 stock position and use stock bumpers, might even glass in the rear bumpers for that seamless look, that i assure you good body men can and do make happen.

People are more used to seeing chrome bumpers so sure the black ones on dons car might look different to you,

I have a set of stock fiberglass bumpers waiting for me with don, my plan is a spray or wrap to look like an older survivor bumper as that is my projects theme , who knows i might airbrush a rust hole or two for fun,

Short of using full front or rear clips for a chrome conversion dons is by far the nicest out there, these cars do differ and vary, a person can click on priyas 79 conversion to see the hell she is going through trying to mate the two up,

Don did the hard part for you

John, what do you mean by "the rear will stay clean"? Paint bumpers same color as body panel?

Last time I posted the link it displayed a facebook message saying link was private....I'll now try a different way. Or, just google "Glasworks"....you'll see Don's facebook listing.

The panel(with bolt on glass bumpers)is $450.00.....front or back.
Shipping, each, is $125 from Fla., Don encloses them in wood boxes.
This was my quote one week ago.

Bob, these last 2 posts have taken this thread into the category of promotion of a Non Supporting Vendor.

If you would like to start a new thread following your project, please do, but please keep the bulk of the posts to the work, not the Non Supporting Vendor, his products, his Facebook page, pricing, shipping costs, etc. PM me with additional questions.
