Strut rods
I am working on a 68 Coupe sb 4 spd total frame off. I have dropped the rearend and suspension. All parts were new - 25 years ago - and never saw any miles (Dad died as he was working on this point). Anyway, the strut rod bushing obviously need replacing. Any opinions on going with poly bushings? Is it more advantageous to replace with new rod/bushing? I see some have changed to a different style of strut, but am unsure of the reason why. Is there a noticeable performance enhancement by changing to a different style strut. This is a to be a driver, not a garage queen, and will never be a real show car. Not a racer either, but must blow off Rustangs. Any information greatly appreciated!
All these struts have done is sit in a garage for 25 years!

I believe the consensus is to NOT use poly bushings at that location due to the fact that there is a certain amount of twisting occurring as the strut moves through it's arc.

Most will tell you to use the stock strut rods, BUT as long as you are gonna replace them anyway, I would (and DO) use heim-jointed adjustable strut rods. At full jounce, the original equipment struts can and will rotate the adjustment cam inside of the rubber bushing to "full negative camber", So using the adjustable aftermarket rods allow a set it and forget it use.

all good advice here but i went against MW here and put poly on my strut rods with very good results.if you want to spend more $ go for the rotating joints.
