repro Build sheet? or window sticker? [THREADS MERGED]
I've read on this forum a bunch of times of people ordering reproduction sheets but I'm not sure what or where.
What I would like to know is how our car came originally. what color, what options, and so on. Our car doesn't even have the original trim tag anymore I did a search but maybe I didn't search it correctly.
We don't have any number matching, garage queen museum piece C3 but I would like to know, how it was ordered and possibly where.
So If anyone could shed some light, that would be wonderful.
Thank you in advance.

For 77-81 St Louis cars, go here vehicleinvoice@gmmediaarchive.com and see if you can obtain a copy of the invoice for your car. The invoice will list the colors, all options, prices, and the original dealer.
Here's the invoice for my 80 from the link above:
For Bowling Green cars, the NCM may have build information.

Guys, I merged the 2 separate threads started on repro invoices.
No need for 2. Also let's not repeat suggestions so we stay away from promoting Non Supporting Vendors. Thanks.

I didn't see the other thread. Sorry for the duplicate.
i can't wait to read the info on the invoice.
would love ti know if this car came with glass tops, or if the rear spoiler was added later. Should be interested.

If your car is original and you show someone a fake sticker, it will cast doubt on your entire car. Even if the car is legitimately original. They are a waste of money. If your car is not original the it makes no difference at all. The only time it makes sense to get one made is to fool the next buyer into paying more money for a car which is not what it is.
A perfect example is the green 69 coupe on eBay right now with a ton of fake paperwork including a very bad pop. Its a very early car and has sidepipes (which are not original to the car although the seller says they are). The car is a total fake but that's not stopping the seller from asking $67500 for it. It's VIN 194379S706410.
Did you check to see if you have the tank sticker on your tank?
If you have that, and its in decent condition, then you don't need anything else.

Yes, they are junk. They look good from 5 feet away.

Hi MR68,
MANY times the information on the tank sheet is readable…. but not always.
It's possible to see if the tank sheet is still on the top of the tank by looking through the gas door opening.
If you push down on the rubber drain boot around the filler neck and then use a flashlight to look to the left and right the sheet can often be seen.
IF you see the sheet it's imperative to not try to remove it or even touch it.
If you want to see what info it might contain the tank should be dropped.
Even then, you need to be VERY careful in touching the sheet and use extremely gentle means to clean the loose dust and dirt off it's surface.
So first try to see if you can determine if it's there; then think about how to proceed.
Regards,
Alan
Here's the sheet on a 71 tank.
And the sheet.
