Cleaning Coolant-soaked Carpet
I started by using up a stack of newspapers (you remember, the things that had NEWS printed on them, and ended up on our porch, EVERY DAY, reverently delivered by a PAPERBOY before or around SUNRISE
), and placed them on top of the carpet and underneath the jute on the floor, constantly soaking up the wetness. When papers no longer displayed much soak-up, I first used straight water with the carpet machine, and after going through about 2 gallons of water (over and under the carpet), finished up with a cleaning solution treatment.
Another consideration, was that the carpet is brand new
. I'll wager I can count on one hand the number of times someone sat there and put their feet down on it. The coolant stained it, as noted here.
Machine ended up with about 3-4 gallons of dirty solution: very nasty, with a green tint to it.
Now it's a wait for drying and hopefully no noticeable residue left over. Steve
