Correct Paint Color/Brand for Rear Leaf Spring
Hi, I've searched up and down the forum but cannot seem to find what the 'NCRS correct' or 'closest to correct' PAINT brand/color to be used on my C3 Rear Spring.
A couple of threads had people who said they would post what rattle can brand/color would be a good choice for the rear springs, but I cannot find their answers. I've read that the original color was a blue-ish gray(most say it is this color) or green-ish gray(Yes, one person said it was greenish gray!) in color. Alan even posted a picture of what the actual color should be!!! THANK YOU!!
Anyone care to help?
Thank you!

Paint is cheap and available at your local home improvement/hardware store.

Don't use Ace Hardware light gray...It looks white in pics but does look a little grayish in person. I used 2 other shades of thier gray on the rear build... Machinery Gray which I used on the rest of the parts except the shocks which I used Sea Blue. I really like the way it sprays.
Here is the best pics I could fine that shows all 3 colors...

Hi jh,
The rear spring is now described as "light to medium gray". (No mention of green-ish or blue-ish tones.)
I'm re-doing my spring currently and am using the Rustoleum that Bill has suggested. It's nice.
HOWEVER… I discovered it's available in 2 variations… Cold Galvanizing Compound (the one you want, 7585), and Bright Galvanizing Compound (sparkly, the one you don't want).
Regards,
Alan
I'm looking for a usable original longest liner!!!

Thanks to everyone ! Hey Alan, a guy on eBay had 2 long original nos liners that didn't sell last week for $30. The item number was 122444133917. Maybe you could strike a deal for one of them? Good luck!! Joe

Hi Jh,
Thanks for the tip!
It appears they are not long enough. He says "fits leafs 1-6"
I need the liner that's between leafs 8-9, the longest liner.
Regards,
Alan
I'm in the process of cutting my originals down to be the next shortest in length than they were intended for. But I need the longest liner.
