Default 68 window crank removal

Hope this helps someone else. Not trying to reinvent the wheel, as I am a beginner, but get super excited when we discover an easy solution to a frustrating restoration task.

After reading some threads about using a screwdriver, thin dish towel (all ours are thick) and curved items to "snag" the Omega clip, my husband struggled for nearly 45 minutes and still no clip removal! Husbands like help about as much as they like asking for directions. Sorry fellow C3 dudes.

As a medical person, I have tons of gauze roll laying around.... so, I thought, well that surely will work as well as a thin rag, if not better.

Passenger side popped right out. Thank you thread members for even teaching me me how to get it off, having NOT a clue when I started!

I use a shop rag with similar properties... takes all of 30 seconds once you do it once.

No need to buy a $9.99 tool

They sell a wide flat generic tool to remove the window cranks for all older GM cars. I cut mine down narrower to allow me to use it to remove the door lock button with the omega clip on it. All auto parts stores use to have this tool for sale cheap! Lou.

This is off-topic, but that isn't an correct 68 window crank. Not a criticism, just an observation.

Yep, you are right. These were the ones on the door, I think I have the originals but the rubber was in bad shape. What year is the one pictured? With all the random things on this car, it may not even be a corvette part :o)
