Hi, the search is still ongoing since the car I checked out in Atlanta last week proofed unfortunately not to be good. Thanks a lot to all of you who did comment the other thread. I have also checked out now what is available here in Europe and came across this one:
It was bought in the US last year, was in Florida apparently after being delivere to Canada and is now in Germany.
It needs restauration, but as can be seen from the pictures some work has been done by the previous owner. The current seller does no to have any history, the frame has been somehow painted (onframe), the brakes have been worked on (calipers seem to be new or renovated) but they are not connected, therefore the car can not be test drive.
I am tempted to bring this car back to live, so it would be great to know what was really done with it? There is a copy of the title with the pictures on the site that show the name of the previous owner!
I would want the brakes connected. If the calipers are new, reconditioned, etc, why would the owner not finish the job so a buyer can test drive it. You should ask why there not connected. From the pictures, the outside look OK, but pictures can be deceiving. The interior needs some love. Good Luck, be patient, the right car will come along.
I agree, the problem is that the seller only auctioned it in the US, brought it to Europe and is selling it again. He did not do anything with the car, he bought it like that!
Matt, with so little information to go on, it may be difficult to get a meaningful response to your question.
If you could post a link to the original advertisement (from the U.S.), it would be helpful. Even the VIN (vehicle identification number) may reveal a link to some additional information.
I would pass, save the thousand plus dollars in shipping and insurance costs, etc, and buy a car already here. That money could pay for some nice upgrades on one closer to home. Good luck with the search!
Cars in Florida rust. Ft. Pierce is on the East Coast of Florida. Salt and high humidity are no friends to Corvette birdcages. I've looked at many Corvettes for sale in this area and most if not all have birdcage issues. I'd be concerned about what that flat black paint was covering up.

Thanks a lot for all the comment, highly appreciated.
The VIN is 194371S119877. This is maybe a hint to where the car came from. The VIN Tag is from Quebec but the title from Florida.
All import taxes have been paid. I have checked out the car, paint needs to be redone, rivets on front of hood need to be made, interior needs to be made, brakes as well, engine maybe - runs smooth and yes what is below the black stuff on the frame? That was the reason I had hoped that maybe someone had seen the car when it was still in the US. He wants 14.000 Euros which is around 15.500 US, deducting 2500,- for shipping and import taxes it would be equivalent to buying one for 13.000,- in the US.
Thanks a lot for the comment ref. rust and Florida cars!
I think listening to you guys I will keep my fingers from this one and keep on searching.
Cheers
Matt
VIN from Quebec? I'm not an expert, just a Corvette owner from Quebec, but that looks kinda funky.
You may want to investigate on that Florida title, my best guess is that this car have been brought from Florida as salvage car and re-titled in Quebec.
I don't know if that's a bad thing apart from making the car lose a bit of its authenticity, but it's definitely something unusual.
VIN question aside, I guess you know the "10 rules to buy a Corvette" video, that would at least help you define photos of where you need, because if I was you I'd ask for more photos.
Or even better, ask for a skype inspection of the car.
Matt
from one Aussie to another, run the car looks rough in the pics, so what does it look like close up , the last comment about being bought in Florida (title there) and then going to Quebec, bought as salvage car then reborn, forget it you would be wasting your money and lots of it. All good things come to he who waits, you will find the right car for you just keep searching do not rush. Keep looking in europe, there are plenty Corvettes there do a search for local corvette clubs they might be able to help you.
