Went to Bloomington Gold this weekend. Its really not worth the $50/pair to go, but I did score an awesome deal. I found a Urethane bumper for my 1980 and got it for $200. Check out the pic! Looks pretty good unless you see something I missed. And before you ask, no, the chromebook didn't come with it.
Question - Storage. Do I have to worry about deforming it? Since this is basically rubber, I see it "molding"itself from sagging if sitting for a while.
---Reason I bought it--------
I replaced my urethane bumper about 3 years ago with fiberglass after a car accident where the van side-swiped me. Biggest mistake I ever made. So much modification was required to fit it and and the sizes for things don't match up right (the grill pokes out of the holes, the licence plate gab was too small so I had to trim the plate, the air ram is not flush with the bumper, etc). True, I no longer have the wavy paint but the fitment lines bug me more. I wanted to go back but I didn't want to spend $499 on a new urethane one (and who knows if it will fit right since it would be a reproduction). In short, I am so pumped to have found this and for the price I got it. When the time comes for a repaint I already have the hard part behind me. Back to original!

Keep it out of the sun while it is in storage, and supported so that there is no unnatural stress to its shape. Congratulations on the find and good luck with the paint and replacement!

Its in a non-climate controlled garage. So as temperature increases and decreases so does the interior of the garage.
If you aren't happy with the fiberglass bumper and want to swap back to the original, why not just pull the plug and do it? Winter is right around the corner.
