Trouble with changing my oil
My brother has a 1978 White Stingray T-top Corvette. I was changing the oil, and after putting in about 2 quarts I heard it spilling onto the plastic I had under the car. I took a look underneath and this is what I saw http://imgur.com/VDtm6go. The new oil was leaking from a small plastic tube (approx. 1/4 inch diameter) that had a green cap on the end. You can see the stream of oil coming down in the bottom left corner of the photo.
Can someone give me some info on what might be going on? I'm thinking this cap just needs to be replaced with one that will seal the tube. If so, what is this cap called? And why does this tube extend from the oil system when there is already the main oil drain? Thanks in advance for any help.

methinks you may be adding oil to the tranny? not the clearest picture so I'm kinda guessing here.

Changing engine oil or automatic transmission fluid? The leak in your pic appears to be at the transmission.

If you put motor oil in the tranny tube, you will need to drop the transmission pan and drain it. Just dont start the engine so it doesnt circulate. tightening the bolts in the transmission pan doesnt require any force, its inch pounds vs foot pounds.

Well I will assume he has not had time to reply, because he is too busy draining all the oil out of his brothers transmission. Looks like somebody is in trouble.

.He said he noticed right away so the motor is still good. I would think the tranny would survive, its just oil and he didnt start it. I think just draining it would be safe and good to go. Maybe have the tranny flushed before starting.
Atleast he asked what was up. Some people would just shrug and say it was full
