I recently bought a 1981 vette and all is great but im hearing a noise it it as the same as the ignition when the key is pushed in. But this happens at random time while driving or even with the key off.
I have done some reading on noise supressor back feeding from systems like alternator and ignition in thes cars,
It does have an after market deck but hook ups are all good.
I will be checking all grounds this weekend but maybe if some one knows something that might help.
it is the same sound as the ignition makes when key is is. whst i found out is teribble grounds on these vehicle i guess do this what is the best way to tackle the grounds on these corvettes
Key warning buzzer/chime? It works from a switch in the steering column that is closed when the key is in for the ground. Power comes from the drivers' door courtesy light switch.
The 'buzzer' for the key warning switch is actually some vibrating contacts in the horn relay. With some circuit investigation, you should be able to diagnose any involvement that relay has with your problem.
If you are hearing 'ignition whine', the frequency of that noise will change proportionally with engine rpm. The key warning buzzer will emit a constant tone.
