Question for you guys. I've been keeping my eye open in my local craigslist for the slim possibility of an L88 hood coming for sale. My goal being to gain more clearance for a taller intake. In the mean time, i ran across what was advertised as a 1981 hood. But looking at the pictures, i believe it is actually from a 78 or 79 L-82. If i recall correctly from 1980 through 82, the L-82 badges were moved to the fenders. This one is on the hood.
First, i believe if i were to go that route it would give me about an inch more clearance over my stock hood which may or may not be worth the effort over an L88 hood. But for the price difference, i may just do it.
So my question is, is there anything outside of the length that might determine if this hood were from a 77 or earlier ? If memory is still working, those were shorter due to the wiper cowl. The seller is a 1-1/2hr drive away from me and if i go that route, dont want to waste the drive time for a hood that is too short.
Thanks in advance
FWIW: look before you leap. What hood latch hardware does the hood require? Check to see if the seller knows which model years it's supposed to fit.
Well, the seller got it from someone who said it came off an 81. So i'm not too confident in the sellers knowledge.
Now i'm wondering if it's worth the hassle. For not too much more, i can get an Ecklers hood which will just need fitting and painting. I know this one will need the paint stripped and still don't know if there are any cracks since i haven't seen it in person. They sent me a video of it but still nothing like seeing it in person and they're a 1-1/2 hr drive away.

It doesnt look as high from the side that it did to me from the top,
Be sure its enough room for your needs,
Fwiw,
I am a cheap building bargain hunter but i get things like new in box ecklers front clip for 400.00 and the guy threw in the new press molded inner fenders,
My very nice l88 hood with cold air box , short style for my 69 hit Craigslist for 600.00 about a month later i paid 125.00 for it,
The other day i drove a couple hours for a part i wanted at a good price,
I would not get too excited over a 250 hood, lots in that range pop up,

You bring up a very good point... Patience....That's what i'll exercise. A bit more patience.
