Default More legroom possible?

is there any yr c3 that has more than the other?
Been a long time since I had one, on the C4s you cant as theres a shelf that limits how far back you can move/tilt the seat. My back is fd up so cant sit upright.
Wanting to get another cruiser here soon hoping theres a way to sit in it. As I remember it was pretty cramped (6'3")

C4 is more for the money but already had a few and sick of smog and hate working on TPI cars.

also is there a certain yr that had a noticeably weaker rearend than the rest so I can avoid it?

I'm 6-4 and I have a 70, 72 and 78... I've had several 79-82 cars... but the 70 and 72 both have the flat seats and tilt tele wheel... so driving either is not any issue for me. The 78 has the flat seats but it's not a tilt car so driving it is impossible for me because it's a 4 speed car and my knee hits either the steering wheel or the door panel. On my 79 with the Pace style seats... head room was always an issue even with glass tops.

Another thought is you could possibly shim the front adjuster to tilt the seat backwards a bit... But if you are long legged like me the tilt tele is a must.

C3's starting in1977 have the steering wheel 2 inches closer to the dash board. That 2 inches works well for me being 6'4"and 250lbs! For comfort I drive the wife's CTS V Coupe, its much faster too!

If you are not concerned about originality you could modify the panel behind the driver's seat (only) by off-setting it rearward as much as possible/then reposition the seat and/or modify the back-rest to have more of a reclining angle.
