Hi EM,
For 68 the dash harness passes in front of the bracket, (closest to the driver), below the tachometer and speedometer, but over the steering column.
There typically were 2 clips mounted to the gauge housings to help hold the harness in place. If they're still there they'll be a guide as to how the harness was run.
If you have the 68 AIM look at UPC 12, Sheets B6 and B8.
Regards,
Alan
As Alan stated- I just replaced the harness in my 69. I laid the harness in, and then tried to install the drivers' side dash-- about 12 times before I got it to lay in exactly like in needs to. And I still ended up wrapping a piece of leather around the harness where the bolt for the dash braces attach to the left side of the column mount. GM didn't use leather, but I did. And I sleep better.
I'm just impressed you got the drivers side dash out. I can't figure out how to get mine all the way out. Seems there's too much stufff connected and it makes me nervous to start yanking on stuff. I did get the speedo and tach cables off.
