Now that's an awesome old video!! I had no idea about some of the automated features on the Mako Shark II.

Default Mako Shark like a 1973

As Larry Shinoda said, the 1973 Corvette is the closest to my original design idea, as seen in the Mako Shark

Shinoda's quote was, "The styling is obviously my favourite aspect. But mostly its the soft front and rear that we developed starting with the XP-819. My favourite of the cars is the 1973. I really like the soft nose. The soft rear on the 1974 doesn't thrill me as much as the earlier rear-end treatments. In fact it reminds me of the J-30 which in turn seems to have been styled after a steaming dog turd."

I saw the Mako Shark II at the 1965 New York World's fair. It was the non-running model, first concept. I had just turned 8. That started my love affair with Corvettes, and when they came out with the first C3, I was done for.

Interesting the "clam shell" hood never made it into production of the C3.
Great video. Thanks for posting.
