Engine Swap & Cross Fire Removal
Going to be taking on the project of swapping out the engine in my '82 for and a 350 sb that has had some work done to it (bored .40 over, new cam, new pistons / rods). Going to be taking out the cross fire system and installing a carb and intake manifold. I am going to have roughly 11" clearance from engine to underside of hood. The current Edelbrock intake manifold I have is 4.5". This is going to leave me with 6.5" for a carb and air cleaner.
-Will I be able to fit this in with the stock hood?
-Does anyone know the height difference of an Edelbrock carb compared to a holly carb (650 cfm)?
-Has anyone else taken on this project that would have some tips for me? -Am I crazy for trying to do this?
Thanks all for the help.

I think 6.5" is going to be tough to pack in a carb and air cleaner.
I just laid a stright edge across the carb base of my 71 350 and have 3/4" gap between that and the top of the stock valve cover (inboard edge).

the hood on the 82 is different than any other hood .the underside has a air intake from the front of the hood that takes up more space than the other hoods that had carbs.you may have to open it up to gain clearance. If your intake is listed to work on a 1980 corvette ,then it can be used on the 82.you will need a drop down air cleaner.measure twice cut once.
