Just bought 1981 4 speed with with orig block, aftermarket heads, intake and 4bbl Weber carb. Cat converter not used, straight pipes to mufflers. Car runs strong, no blue smoke at start up or when driving. No codes observed on dash. Opinions on Weber vs. replacing with Qjet. And replacing cat and original pipes.

Whats the goal? No matter what you do to this motor its still going to be terrible. Trust me I know. You can wake it up slightly but every dollar you spend is one you could spend on a new crate motor.

Leave it as is. Original q-jet is computer controlled. If the PO has changed the cam as well then it may not work as intended. If you still have the original cam then you will be spending $$ for a fuel economy gain.
