1970 454 Fan Clutch Problems

1970 454 Fan Clutch Problems

I have a 7 blade wing tip fan blade with original fan clutch that is worn out.Tried several Hayden fan clutches but hub diameter will not go though hole on fan blade.Its only like 2.3 " diameter.Anyone know where to get a clutch at reasonable price that would fit?

Why don't you get your original fan clutch rebuilt?

Yes. Get it rebuilt. There is a gentleman in Florida that does fantastic work.

Are you trying to say the center hole of the fan not fit over the mounting flange that attaches to the water pump?

Yes ,flange of fan clutch will not fit through hole of fan blade.whats number of guy in Florida?

Even thought about grinding the mounting flange on fan clutch a little smaller?

I agree, impossible because the mounting pad on the fan clutch is larger than the water pump mounting flange.

well I decided to put the original fan clutch in storage for a possible rebuild later.found one at auto zone part number 9222711.it looks like a close replacement with same size flange and bolt pattern as original.its also made in the USA.
