Hi Don,
I see that Corvette Central has the 1981 GM Service Manuals listed.
So you might begin by checking with them.
The engine removal section/info is in the earlier manuals BUT I'm not positive if it's in the later manuals….I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Even if the removal info isn't in the 81 Manual I think you'll find it useful.
If it's not there I'll copy my pages and send them to you.
Regards,
Alan
If you're going to work on you car, there are two manuals which are an absolute must to have. The GM service manual and the assembly instruction manual (AIM). The GM service manual will most likely cover other cars also, it's just what they did with the later C3's. Don't go with the Haynes manual, it is not the same. You're starting off on the right foot by using this forum. The knowledge here is incredible and has help more times than I remember. Good luck, Bill

. Thanks Bill, I will check on them both. I have had this car since 1985. Finally retired and have some time to start doing some things!
Check eBay for the factory service manuals. If you look you should be able to pick one or even the whole set up for roughly $25 give or take a few bucks. May also be able to find an assembly manual as well. These would likely be used manuals. I got my GM factory service manuals there as well as the GM corvette parts manual and exploded diagrams. Lots of luck. Russ
