Default Method of supporting trans to frame with engine out?

I am putting my 69 frame back together. I have the suspension on and rear end in, but would like to put in the trans (loosely for now). Is there a way to support the front of the trans from the frame so I can roll everything around on the wheels without the engine in?

Thanks
Glenn in San Diego

maybe use some straps under the front of the trans and wrap them around the frame

Hi Glenn,
The transmission isn't all that heavy…. especially when the tail shaft is supported.
I ran some heavy rope from frame rail to frame rail running under the transmission case. I believe, to be sure, I went across 3 times.
I didn't think I'd ever have to admit doing that.
I actually ended up taking the transmission back out when I put the engine in place.
Regards,
Alan

When I had my motor out for rebuild, we supported the TH400 with heavy wire from the upper trans bolt holes around the wiper motor.

How about a 2x6 cut to length to span across the frame. Then a few bolts through the bellhousing and 2x6. Solid, cheap, and you'd be able to roll the chassis.
