Default Power Locks not working

1982 power locks not working. Blowing fuses. I want to replace the entire wiring harness which would include the power windows. Corvette parts sites have the harness for about $90 dollars. Requires two one for left and right sides. Are there any other harnesses needed? With this harness reach from Door through side panel into console?

Can't seem to find much info on how the wires run so I can do this project myself. I'm not that familiar with reading wiring diagrams so if there were pics or written directions that would be ideal.

Any help appreciated. Thanks

If memory serves, there is a relay for the power locks. You might want to check that first.

Hey jgonzo check out this schematic from my 81, it should be the same for an 82. No relays just a courtesy light fuse, switches, actuators and alarm system. Both switches have to be working in order for the door locks to work. The switches themselves can cause a short circuit and blow fuses as well as the switch connector in each door. The best thing to do is get a meter and check all the grounds and positive wiring as well as doing a continuity test for each wire run to make sure everything is hooked up correctly, not shorted out etc.

I went through mine very thoroughly before I got mine working and found several wiring issues that are very common for these cars. Then I went on and wired in a new Viper alarm system myself so I did could have remote keyless entry as well as a working security alarm better than the factory.

Good Luck!

Thanks Reaper19. I actually bought new switches and pig tails last year. Hooked them up and found same problem. Blowing fuses. So I just bought new wiring harnesses from Corvette America. Will definitely test wires and connectors for continuity. I also put a new lock cylinder in the passenger door but some how struggled in getting the rods connected. I need to spend time to figure that out. Whats the chance of the harness from center console to door having a problem? All the wires look like they are in great condition. Even where the osss through the door into the car. Thanks.
