Default Headlight troubleshooting

Hi everyone. I recently purchased my first Corvette. It is a 1974 w/ t-top, 4 speed, aftermarket heads, intake, and suspension. It is in great condition inside and out. Trouble is, after using the headlights 3 or 4 times they will not go back down. I can manually put them down, but each time I start the car they raise if I do not have the actuators disconnected. I think it may be an issue with either of the switches. I do have a mityvac and am just looking for some advice. Thanks

Here's a really good place to start.

You will learn how the system is supposed to work along with how to troubleshoot. Your Mityvac will come in very handy. Concentrate on the headlight relay and actuator seals.

I replaced the actuator and switches and the pull down switch on my 76. I also replaced the headlight switch and a few feet of hose.

Check the headlight over ride switch beneath the steering column.

Thanks for help! I have become very familiar with the whole system over the last few days! I thought the override switch might be the problem. That corvette 101 guide is just what I needed.
