Default Hood Fitment

I have a hood fitment question.

It seems as if my hood doesn't fit correctly but not in the spaces you would normally think.

The gaps are good all around it's the middle of the hood on each side that doesn't seem to be right. It is lower on each side by about 3/4 of an inch.

It's not the original hood for the car so maybe it's for the wrong year.

Can anyone tell me if they've seen this before? Is it the wrong hood? Is it the fenders?

Maybe the hood is warped?

Let me know what you think and thank you in advance.

That's common, you need the rubber spacer blocks that glue to the fender lip so the hood can sit on them and hold it to the right height. They are available from most of the vette parts vendors.

That's funny. I put some spacers there just to see if it would fix the problem and it did. I didn't realize that it's a common problem.

Thanks for the advice!

The FAM shows two on each side. 7" and 25" from the front, but you can put them anywhere you need to bring the hood up level. Mine only has one on each side at 21".

The spacers are already ordered from Corvette Central.

My 73 hood is exactly the same. I never realized there are spacer blocks available. I will put this on my list. Thanks for the post.
