Hey everyone! I just bought a 79, and the headlights, get stuck coming up. They seem to be rubbing on the top of the light where they meet the hood. I can see that they have been rubbing for a while because the paint is chipped off. It seems as if the hood/nose is to high. If I push down on the nose ( above the headlights, they seem to come up, no problem. Does anybody have an easy fix?
The pivots for the headlights (one on each side) can be adjusted . There are three bolts holding each side. They are not easy to access. If you take the grilles out you can see the three on the inside but the other three if you remove bumper bracket and reach up inside fender you can get at them.
Hi D,
The fact that you can push down on the hood surround makes me concerned as to just what might be causing your problem.
Have you looked under that area? Hsas the support for the rear of the headlight frames come loose from the underside of the hood surround?
These are the location/appearance of the bushings that 'h' mentions.
A bit tricky to reach and adjust.
Regards,
Alan
After you move these bushings the 'up' stop and 'down' stops for the headlight doors may need to be readjusted.
Do you know about or have an Assembly Instruction Manual for your car that will show you how to do that?
