Well I received my storage door rubber bumpers today but upon attempting to install them I ran into an obstacle. How come the surround area, that has small holes to push the bumpers in at the jack compartment and storage compartment are NOT present in the battery compartment? I have my original surround and a second OEM that came with some random parts I got and neither one of them have the small holes for the bumpers in the battery area. What gives?
My guess is that I use a battery seal in this area and no bumpers but that is not what the parts vendors are telling me.
The battery compartment has a seal. Bumpers aren't needed.
As I suspected. Wonder why they give you 3 sets of bumpers. The vendors (2 of them) told me they were used on the battery also. And the seal went "under" the lip. Thanks Mike!
The battery door NEEDS to be sealed so that acid vapors (from charging) can't reach the interior and the passengers. That's why there is a vent/drain out the bottom of the battery box.
Whether the vendors/suppliers of those parts know what they actually NEED [or not] is a crap-shoot.
