Ok so my c3s headlight lid keeps changing it height by itself?

Dont know why it's doing this..

i start it up adjust the headlight lid to the height I want then go for a drive and it either lower or higher then I adjusted it...

other problem I have is I recently changed the valve covers now I have a misfire

any suggestions would be much appreciated

thanks

There is probably an issue with the side pivot retainers or the actual support itself.

Watch this video below and it will show you all the pivot points the headlamps have as well as how to adjust the housing. But if the adjustment keeps changing I'd suspect something is loose in the support pivot area or some of the bushings in the actual linkage is worn. If you are under the car with the lamp in the upward position, reach up and try to wiggle the housing while looking under it for play.

Alan71 has some awesome pictures of the headlamp linkage as well and hopefully he'll post them up for you.

If the wires are routed correctly then they would not be in the way of pulling the valve cover. But if they are routed over the valve cover I'd check to make sure you didn't knock one of the plug wires off the plug.

Hi R-T,
Is it just one headlight doing this?
What procedure are you using to adjust the height of the headlight?
Is the headlight door locking in the up position?
Do you sense that there is any looseness in the mechanism if you grab the open door and push/pull on it?
Is the 'open' stop properly set?

If there's no looseness it sounds like the relay is sending 'mixed' signals to the actuator to open/close the headlight door.

Do you have a vacuum pump with gauge (like a mity-vac) that you can use to check the function of that headlights relay?
Regards,
Alan

Hi RT,

"i want to do some repairs anyways to it but is there an easy way to take the headlight out without removing the front bar ?"

What year car are you working on?
What are you seeing that makes you think the headlight needs to come out?
Have you tested the operation of the relay that controls the operation of the headlight?
Regards,
Alan
