I recently purchased a 69' that currently has Hooker headers and side tubes. I am not real crazy about the aftermarket look and had planned on changing the Hookers out for the factory style. I realize the OEM style will be tough to find and I'll have to use reproductions. As far as I am aware, Paragon seems to be the best place to get reproductions. Anybody ever installed a set from Paragon? If so, what were your struggles with the install? What surprises did you run into?
Hi aw,
Welcome!
First post!!
Paragon Reproductions is the source for all the 69 style side exhaust insulators and shields.
They are expensive, but beautiful.
There are several sources for the pipes/mufflers. Check the larger vendors.
Buying used insulators and shields generally isn't a cost savings because typically by time the insulators are repaired and the shields re-plated the cost is similar to a new set.
Installing them takes some planning and care so that when finished a bit of the mufflers isn't seen along the bottom edge of the shields.
Regards,
Alan
