Remove right side cover on trans tunnel. Remove right door sill plate, right-side kick panel and right-side dash pad.

Disconnect wiring connectors from AM/FM radio. Remove AM/FM convector mounted behind right dash pad. Install stereo convector in its place.

Remove AM/FM radio; install stereo radio. Change/modify any wiring (radio and/or speakers) as needed.

I would highly recommend that you replace the dash speakers with some good quality 8 ohm units. The speaker impedance for '73 radios was 10 ohms; 8 ohm speakers is a good match. Installing 4 ohm speakers would run the risk of over-current to the radio head if volume is turned up high. Or you could add speakers in the kickpanel areas (4 ohm speakers in dash and kickpanels) and wire each pair (R and L) in SERIES to yield 8 ohm total impedance on each side. This will give you MUCH better sound quality and fullness, instead of just hearing music coming from the dash/windshield area.
