Hello everybody:
I just joined the Corvette forum today after a friend of mine told me about how awesome this site was. I have a question for anybody out there with an 82 C3 vette. I have found an 82 C3 vette that i'm very interested in but my friend told me that i need to be careful since many of the C3 had issues with them. Any help clarifying those issues and should i not get the car if there are too many of them? i have never owned a vette in my life and this is my very first one that i'm really interested in. i have always loved the 82 body style and now i can finally afford one. Thanks everybody for your help.

C3 = money pit. Rust, fluid leaks, cracking fiberglass, and every typical "old car" problem.
...And I love mine and am so glad I have one!
Welcome to the forum. This is a great place for info. A simple search for "1982" or "82" in the C3 General or C3 Tech Performance forums should produce more results than you will want to read.
Hi Hairball68,
Welcome to our madness.
This is a link to the C3 buyers guide - https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-corvette.html
Read it and it will give you the best tips on what to check when looking at a C3 when buying.

The C3 looks better than any other car on a AAA Flat Bed as it rounds the corner into the Hood on any Saturday! Brings the neighbors out for a little gtg! But I love her!
There are any number of answers to this question as any old car can have issues. If he was specifically referring to the 82, then I would guess he is referring to the Cross-Fire Injection, which is unique to 82 and 84 Corvettes. Cross fire Injection has enjoyed sort of an ominus reputation and maybe it is undeserved. I have heard of many people who have had good luck with Cross Fire, but it might be difficult to find someone who knows enough about them to work on it.

Well, the youngest C3 is 35 years old, so you can expect "old car" issues with any C3... BUT, if you are willing to learn, work, and spend, every thing can be improved or fixed! Ask forum members how they know!
Hum,
C3s didnt have any more issues than any other car of its era,
I daily drove an 81 over 100k miles in the 80s, no major issues, but i took care of the car,
Many c3s are run down, not cared for and in poor shape, not the cars fault,
A well mantained or restored c3 is as good or better than the day it was new,
Look at vettebuyers 69 or iwas 77, better than new drive them anywhere anytime cars, but not cheap to be at that level.
People who moan about c3s not making good daily drivers or that they need more repairs than other cars must have neglected c3s or are just spoiled to modern creature comforts or both,
In the 90s i drove a modded 66 daily, no ac no heat no power anything hardtop only, but its what i like,
Under 10k seldom buys a great c3, it will buy a nice driver for a savvy careful shopper to get up to par or a nighmare money pit for the less informed,
Rust can make a stunning c3 a low value parts car, sad but true,
