My 74 restoration, 396 stroker
So I have been struggling with my engine the whole summer and it ended up in buying a new one, its on its way over here in Sweden from the states so in the meantime I decided to tear my rear end apart and get a new diff in...
While I'm at it is dangerous for the wallet
Some stuff out..
Empty, noticed that sometime in time one of the u-joints must have broken because it's damaged in the battery compartment
Some bodywork required
And some undercoat paint, looks great
Old and new, to be continued !

Hi SM,
Nice looking repair on the underbody.
"While I'm at it is dangerous for the wallet "
This is certainly true!!!
Probably even MORE SO in Sweden!
Regards,
Alan

what are you painting the underside with? por15 or something like Eastwood's rust encapsulate?
BTW from the way you repaired the battery box I can only imagine how stunning the entire vette will be when you are done! Good Job!

Excellent Job on your Rear View I did mine 12 yrs ago and it still looks like the day i did it. Don't cover it up all that hard work w/tire carrier.

Hello stingraymaniac. Good looking work/results you have going on there.
Something I noticed in the first picture. It looks like the hydraulic brake line on the right rear caliper is copper? If so, you may want to consider replacing that line unless it is already on your "To Do" list.
If it is copper, my understanding is that it will fatigue and eventually crack and thus no stopping enjoyment.

Never heard of that?
All the lines are changed to copper on the car, no more rust.
Bought them from the local brake company, have copper on my daily also, salty roads kill steel lines over here in the winter so.

Started to paint my halfshafts
And also while I'm at it....
Started to clean of and paint the floors, some degreaser and a metal scraper do the trick

Looks Fantastic! Just redid the brake lines on my Brothers van, we used copper lines, so easy to bend!

About the copper lines ? by chance , are they a copper/nickel alloy or a "cunifer" line ?
its just that plain copper lines are illegal here for safety reasons .
